Crowns and Bridges

A crown is an artificial tooth or cap, which covers a tooth weakened by decay. A crown could be necessary for a number of reasons, for instance:

  • You may wish to improve the appearance of a discoloured or misshaped tooth.
  • You may have had root canal treatment which will need a crown to protect it from breaking.
  • It may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. A complete or full denture replaces all of the natural teeth whilst a partial denture fills in the spaces created by lost or missing teeth and is attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps.

Veneers

Veneers are a great way to change the look of your front teeth. You can whiten your teeth, close spaces, and create a great smile.

Dental veneers are an eggshell thin layer of porcelain that is bonded to the outside of your teeth allowing you the freedom to choose the new colour and shape of your smile.

Tooth Coloured Fillings

Decay may or may not cause discomfort; even though it doesn’t hurt, the tooth maybe deteriorating.

Today’s modern white filling materials strengthen teeth unlike the mercury amalgam fillings of years past. The tooth coloured fillings, are bonded to your teeth and are much more natural looking and comfortable than their metal counterparts. Smile again with confidence.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal treatment is necessary if the blood or nerve supply to the tooth is infected due to decay, cracks or trauma.

Common causes for the need of root canal treatment:

  • Severe toothache pain upon chewing or application of pressure
  • Prolonged sensitivity/pain to heat or cold temperatures
  • Tooth decay
  • Chipped or broken tooth
  • Repeated dental procedures on a tooth

Please contact our clinic if you experience any of the symptoms above

Extractions

Having a tooth out is the same as having an operation and, this means, you must look after the area to ensure the area is healing properly and to reduce the risk of infection.

Here are a few tips:

  • Avoid eating hot food, rinsing or spitting for 24 hours after the extraction.
  • After the extraction avoid brushing the teeth near the extraction site for one day. After 24 hours resume gentle cleaning. Avoid commercial mouth rinses, as they tend to irritate the site.
  • If swelling occurs you can place ice on your face for 10 minutes and off for 20 minutes. Repeat this cycle as you feel necessary for up to 24 hours
  • Beginning 24 hours after the extraction you can rinse with salt water (1/2 teaspoon in a cup of water) after meals and before bed.
  • Don't drink any alcohol and try not to disturb any blood clot, which might have formed.
  • Do not smoke for 24 hours.

Please contact our clinic if you experience any of the symptoms above

Wisdom Teeth

When wisdom teeth don't have room to grow or start to push against the teeth already there, you may feel some pain or discomfort, so the best thing to do is book an appointment with the dentist. The dentist will take an x-ray to view the position of the root, and to assess whether there is room for the tooth to come through into a useful position.

Oral Hygiene

Regular dental visits are critical for good oral hygiene at any age. Dental hygiene treatment involves professional cleaning to remove plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains from your teeth. However, perhaps our most important role is providing the education to properly care for your teeth and gums.

Bad Breath Therapy

Bad breath is a very common problem and there are many different causes. The majority of bad breath problems occur in the mouth. Persistent bad breath is usually caused by the odour released by the bacteria that coat your teeth and gums.

Here are a few tips to treat bad breath:

  • Brush and floss your teeth properly
  • Clean and brush your tongue
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Use mouthwashes containing chlorine dioxide
  • Check for signs of gingivitis and other dental problems

Teeth Grinding/Bruxism Treatment

Getting headaches from teeth clenching and grinding? When bruxism is serious enough to damage the teeth or cause jaw or facial pain, our dentist can fit patients with plastic mouth guards to be worn at night, designed to prevent grinding during sleep.

Periodontic/Gum Treatment

This involves the thorough cleaning of your teeth in the clinic to assist the healing of inflamed or infected gum tissue. Specifically, this procedure involves the removal of a bacterial substance called plaque and harder mineral deposits called calculus from tooth surfaces above and below the gum line. It may also involve smoothing the roots of your teeth.

Teeth Whitening

Having your teeth whitened by a professional is one of the easiest ways to brighten and invigorate your smile.

We offer a take home whitening kit, which involves applying a whitening gel in a mouth tray (custom made by us), which you then wear for short periods during the day.

Results are normally seen over 2 weeks.

Orthodontics

Want to find out more about straightening your teeth? We offer orthodontic retainers, which is a removable appliance, and fits comfortably around the teeth to hold them straight for the long term. These retainers are custom made to a precise impression of your jaws.
