About OHT Hawraa Al-Husseini

I chose to become an Oral Health Therapist because it perfectly combines my interests in the medical field with hands-on patient care. I love that my work centers around prevention and education, helping patients develop oral care routines that truly work for them. There is so much misinformation about dental health, and I take pride in guiding my patients away from these myths and toward habits that promote lasting health.

What I enjoy most is creating a comfortable, supportive environment for each of my patients. Dental treatments can sometimes feel invasive, so I focus on providing a calm space where patients feel understood and at ease. Whether it’s a child’s first visit or an adult wanting to improve their routine, I’m dedicated to making the experience positive and stress-free. For me, the greatest reward is seeing patients walk away more confident in their health.

With nearly half of adults experiencing gum disease at some point, my focus on preventive care and patient education is essential. Teaching my patients simple, practical habits can make all the difference in avoiding common issues and keeping smiles healthy for life.

How I stay healthy and happy
I take a holistic approach to health, balancing a nutritious diet, regular exercise, and mindfulness practices like journaling and meditation. Spending time with family and volunteering within my cultural community also keeps me grounded and fulfilled. I find peace in nature, especially near the ocean, where I recharge and reconnect with myself.

How I maintain healthy teeth and gums
I focus on simple yet effective habits, like using a soft-bristled toothbrush with fluoride toothpaste and rinsing with water after meals. I also use a straw for acidic drinks to protect my enamel and floss regularly to maintain gum health.

Essential tip to keep your teeth healthy
Using a soft-bristled toothbrush and gradually building up a flossing routine can make a huge difference. It’s okay to start small—floss a few days a week and build from there.
