About Dr. Xiao Jin

Dentistry has given me the opportunity to work in some of Australia’s most unique and beautiful locations, from Esperance in Western Australia to the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. Beyond the professional rewards, what I value most is being able to contribute to communities where access to care can make a real difference.

I believe dentistry should be centred on prevention and patient empowerment. While complex procedures such as crowns, implants, or root canals can be valuable when needed, my focus is always on helping patients avoid these situations in the first place. By encouraging simple, consistent habits and evidence-based care, I aim to preserve the natural strength and beauty of teeth for as long as possible.

Core values such as integrity, professionalism, and compassion guide every aspect of my practice. I believe open and honest communication builds trust and allows patients to make informed decisions about their health. With gum disease and tooth decay among the most common chronic conditions in Australia, my goal is to shift the focus from reactive treatment to proactive prevention—so patients enjoy healthier smiles for life.

How I stay healthy and happy

Mountain biking keeps me active (though I admit some of the benefits are offset by catching up with mates afterwards). Riding my motorbike also turns everyday travel into something I genuinely look forward to—it’s a simple but reliable source of happiness.

How I maintain healthy teeth and gums

For most people, oral health is straightforward: brush and floss daily, limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, and avoid smoking. These simple habits, done consistently, are the foundation of long-term oral health.

Essential tip to keep your teeth healthy

Always use a fluoridated toothpaste and don’t rinse after brushing—just spit out the excess. This allows fluoride to continue working to protect your teeth.
