Dr. James Fang's tip to keep your teeth healthy

"Brush close to the gum line. If you use a manual toothbrush, use small, gentle circular movements along the gum line. If you use an electric toothbrush, position the brush along the gum line and allow the toothbrush to do the work rather than scrubbing."

About Dr. James Fang

For me, good dentistry starts with making sure my patients understand what’s happening and feel comfortable with their care. I take the time to get to know each patient so we can decide on their care together.

I became a dentist because it combines science, problem-solving and working closely with people, and because no two cases are ever quite the same.

I gained clinical experience at Westmead Centre for Oral Health, Sydney Dental Hospital, Nepean Hospital and Campbelltown Hospital, treating a wide range of general dental cases.

My philosophy centres on prevention and minimally invasive care. I especially enjoy helping anxious patients feel more comfortable. Building that trust is one of the most satisfying parts of what I do.

How I stay healthy and happy
Outside dentistry, I enjoy staying active through sport, going to the gym and playing badminton.

For me, staying happy is also about maintaining strong relationships with family and friends, getting enough sleep and enjoying a good morning coffee.

Having interests outside work and looking after my health helps me maintain a healthy balance between dentistry and everyday life.

How I maintain healthy teeth and gums
I make sure I brush carefully along the gum line rather than concentrating only on the visible surfaces of the teeth.

It’s a small detail, but good brushing technique can make an important difference to keeping both your teeth and gums healthy.
