Dr. Jasleen Taluja's tip to keep your teeth healthy
“Reducing how often you have added sugar and drinking more water throughout the day can help reduce the risk of tooth decay. Regular dental check-ups are also important for staying on top of your oral health.”
I’m the first health professional in my family. I enjoy being able to play a part in maintaining my patients’ oral health while helping them understand the reasons behind common dental problems.
One of the things I enjoy most about being a dentist is patient education. I want people to understand what’s happening with their teeth and gums and feel involved in decisions about their care.
My approach is centred around minimising invasive dentistry where appropriate. I believe in preserving healthy tooth structure wherever possible and taking the time to explain treatment options clearly so patients can make informed decisions about what comes next.

How I stay healthy and happy
I try to maintain a balanced diet and enjoy home-cooked meals whenever I can. Staying active is also important to me, whether that’s going for a run at the beach or exercising at home.
Spending quality time with my children, particularly outdoors, is one of the things that makes me happiest. We also enjoy regular trips to the library together.
To maintain a good balance between work and everyday life, I like to plan ahead and make time to catch up with friends over coffee or go on bush walks.
A little-known fact about me is that I have a passion for singing and love expressing myself through music.
How I maintain healthy teeth and gums
I brush twice a day and floss once a day. I also make an effort to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
I encourage my patients to think beyond brushing and flossing as well. Reducing the frequency of added sugar, drinking water regularly and keeping up with dental check-ups can all play a role in maintaining good oral health.
