About OHT Loren Phung

I became an Oral Health Therapist because I enjoyed the notion of being able to directly interact with patients and having the opportunity to develop meaningful patient-clinician relationships. Building trust is essential to delivering successful oral care, and I love knowing my patients can leave the surgery happy after a service from someone they are able to trust with their oral health.

Preventative care is a cornerstone of my practice. I believe in conservative treatments and focusing on prevention, helping patients avoid future dental issues. By delivering regular checkups, oral hygiene instructions, and fissure sealants, I aim to ensure my patients’ oral health is taken care of for the long term. Seeing the positive impact that preventative care can have on my patients’ health is truly rewarding.

Outside of work, I make it a priority to maintain an active lifestyle, whether it’s spending time in the gym or competing in social badminton matches. Travel is another passion of mine, and I love exploring new destinations and trying different foods with friends and family. This balance between work, fitness, and leisure allows me to stay energized and focused in my professional life, ensuring I deliver my best to every patient.

How I stay healthy and happy
Staying active on my time off is very important to maintaining my health. When time permits, I find myself either in the gym or on a badminton court participating in social competitions. I also love traveling the world with friends and family, enjoying new foods and experiences. Taking time outside of the dental setting helps me maintain a healthy work-life balance and keeps me energized and focused.

How I maintain healthy teeth and gums
I maintain healthy teeth and gums by always remembering to brush twice a day and floss at least once a night. Controlling my diet to minimize the risk of decay is also essential to maintaining my oral hygiene.

Essential tip to keep your teeth healthy
A little tip I always give my patients is the “spit don’t rinse technique.” After brushing, I recommend spitting out the excess toothpaste but not rinsing. This allows more fluoride from the toothpaste to stay on your teeth for longer, helping them stay strong.
